Book publishes Feb 24.

Pre-order: Amazon

Synopsis:

Marianne needs to find who’s leaking secrets from her company, before they lose another major contract. What she doesn’t need is an affair with her married boss. Even worse, to fall in love with him.

She discovers the security leak is more than a case of commercial espionage: someone is lying in the shadows, playing games with them. Now more than her heart and career are at stake–her life is on the line.

My Thoughts:

This is a brand new series from one of my fav authors. I was super excited to read this one, I love rock stars books. This one was more in the mystery/thriller category and was overall a bit creepy. It put you on your toes as the suspense of the situations unfolded.
I absolutely loved the start of the book and AJ or Alex the rock star was SOOO good and hot as hell. Come to mama, oh yeah. His story was very good, 6 stars good and I wish this book was about him. I was at the start thinking this was going to be his love story but that seem to be in the next book and I can hardly wait to read that one. I know that will be right up my ally. I loved his background and the way his mind worked, he is a very interesting and likable character.
This book was set between 2 different stories that intertwined and meet up in the end. As I said, AJ story was my dream book sadly the other story was not. It started out good, but the more I got to know the persons in it I liked them less and less. They lied, cheated and I was not on board with their love story at all. The characters were well thought out and complex, they were more like real life ppl and did not follow the traditional book norm. They had flaws and a background and as it happens in real life you don’t get along with everyone.

I did love AJ story and I adored Sizzle, I think their book will be absolutely awesome.

Therefore give 3,5 stars rounding up to 4 as I absolutely loved Alex story line and the book was very well written.

Hopeless

Hope(less) (Judgement of the Six Book 1) by Melissa Haag

HopelessFree on Kindle

Book provided by author for an hones review.

Synopsis:
Our world is being judged and we remain unaware.

In a world filled with people, Gabby is uniquely alone. The tiny glowing sparks filling her mind that represent the people around her, confirm it as does the bizarre inexplicable draw she has on men.

Struggling to find an explanation for her sight while dodging unwanted male attention, Gabby meets Sam. The chance encounter leads to a startling revelation – werewolves are real.

Hoping the existence of something so extraordinary might lead to the answers she is seeking, Gabby enters into a hidden society where fur is optional. There she meets Clay, the werewolf delusional enough to think he has a chance with her. Gabby’s plans for her future do not include a mate, but rather college, career, and then a huge ‘we’ll see’.

Gabby leaves the furry hidden society behind when she moves off to college, but trouble has a way of following and finding her. When other werewolves start stalking her, and anomalies in the sparks she sees begin to appear, she must count on Clay’s help or risk losing the chance to find the answers she searches for.

My Thought:
This is a new take on the shifter/werewolf lore, the world building comes on gradually and it real different from anything else I have read so far. The book sucked me in from the first page and had my attention until the last sentence.

We meet Gabby from an early age and follow her until she is 18, most of the book take place when she is 18. But we get a good bit of back ground information on her any get to know her very well any why she is like she is. I really liked that, Gabby is a very interesting character, she has her own mind and is not a pushover. She has grown up in different foster homes and has lost everyone she loved and do not let people get close to here ever. She knows what she wants to do in life and getting mated to a werewolf is so not on that list. Gabby has some special supernatural powers too and we try to find out the “use” for them during this book. That is part of the journey.

Clay is a lone wolf so to speak, grown up in the woods and have not been in society much. We get to know him thru Gabby in this book, he is her silent rock that sneaks into her hear and pitch up a tent there. He is really quite smart and does it the only was Gabby would let him into her life. He is silent in most of the book and only starts taking at the end, but it sort of works for me.
There are also some other interesting characters in this book, Sam the “werewolf grandfather figure” and Rachel the flat mate and friend. I like the unique world this author has made, it is different from anything I have read before. It is not often I see that, the words flow easily and it is written in a catchy way that sucks me in. This author can really write, the book is not perfect but it is real good. I stay up reading to 3.30 in the middle of the night so that says it all really.

This is labeled a New Adult book, there are young people in it but I did not get that teensy angst feeling. The people acted more like adults, it was no sex in this book if that is what you like. But that was OK with me because this book caught my attention while I read it and gave me a good story and that is what I want from a book.
A fair warning is the cliffhanger ending, thankfully the next book in this series is out and I am going to read it right away. I think this author has made it into the list off authors I am following to see if they will do interesting stuff.

I give this book 4,5 stars. I can recommend it to UF and werewolf lovers. I would put this book in the UF category.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review.

Synopsis:

The stunning conclusion to the critically acclaimed series that has won thousands of fans!

When a ruthless enemy finally strikes, Mia and Korum will face the biggest test of their relationship yet. But it’s Korum’s own secrets that may ultimately tear them apart.

From the beaches of Costa Rica to a planet in a distant galaxy, theirs is a love story that may change the world . . .

Warning: This book contains strong sexual content and explicit language and is not suitable for readers under 18

My Thoughts:

This is the third and last book about Mia and Korum and what a wonderful end to it too.
Mia has grown so much in this series, she has bloomed from a shy uncertain virgin to a strong female that knows how to get her way. In this last book she really comes into her own and takes charge of things around her and her life and relationship with Korum. The wishy washy girl is banished for good. I absolutely loved it.

Korum what can I say. My relationship with him during the books has not been a good one, to say I would love to hit him over the head with my iron skillet would be pretty accurate if I also could do it repeatedly. He has been controlling, forcing himself on Mia and over all nasty. But in this book he redeems himself. The Korum PVO we get in this book is awesome, applause to the author for doing it. It clears up so much and to understand his side off things is wonderful. I absolutely loved that he was ashamed off his early behavior that make the book for me it really did.

I absolutely love this world Anna Zaires has made for us in the K books. I am a super huge fan of all the geniuses inventions that are in the books and there were even more nice tidbits off them in this one. I am in awe of the authors mind that has come up with all this stuff it is brilliant. This book also took us to the K home world and what a beautiful world it was. I could just picture it in my mind as the writer painted it for me. The end of the book was truly awesome and it was pretty much perfect end to Mia and Korums story.

I think this quote sums it up nicely:
“He’s not going to flip out again, is he?” Jessie sounded scared.
“What? No, of course not,” Mia said automatically.
“Uh-huh,” Jessie said doubtfully.
“He won’t,” Mia said with confidence, looking directly at Korum. She knew perfectly well that he could hear her.
He stared back at her. His eyes still had those dangerous golden flecks in them, but one corner of his mouth tilted up, a ghost of a smile stealing across his face. Mia continued looking at him, her own eyes narrowed, and the smile became a full-blown grin, transforming his features from merely gorgeous to out-of-this-world sexy. Then he turned away and continued speaking to Edgar, as though nothing had happened.
“Holy shit,” Jessie breathed her eyes huge. “You did it! Mia, you f***ing did it…”
“Did what?”
“You tamed a K.”
― Anna Zaires, Close Remembrance

I am looking forward to reading more about this universe, it will be with new people and hopefully they will be just as captivating.

Read on to find out . . .

WARNING: This book contains strong sexual content and explicit language and is not suitable for readers under 18.

My Thoughts:

This book starts right in where the first book leaved off. I had some trouble getting into the first book and gave it 3 stars but this I came right into and it was soooo good, could not put it down staying up all night reading good. The words came alive on the pages and I was sucked right into the wonderful world in Lenkarda with all the weird wonderful Krinkar technology that I so hope was in this book and it sure was, beyond my wildest dream. I absolutely loved all the wonderful Star Trek things that Start trek never invented that this author had thought of. (They should hire her for the next movie, just a thought.) I am in awe of Anna Zaires fantasy and want to pitch up a tent and have a nice holiday in her brain for a couple of weeks to get a close up on her wonderful thought proses, this is a brain worth picking in my goodness for a wonderful fantasy she has.
I absolutely loved the house she had made up and all the wonderful little technology things in it, I want one right now. Especially one with that intelligent matrass to sleep on and the cleaning the dishes part, I like to cook but after a long day I would like that tidbit to. I was like a happy child jumping up and down in glee about all this and the door things and the wonderful clever house idea. By mostly I would donate on of my nicer body parts to get that permanent migraine cure pill thing, I want one like yesterday!!! My hubby said I should call my Doc and say I wanted that new cure I read about, I just had to forget to tell WHERE I read it. (Sniggering to myself.)

I still have problems with Korum`s controlling, high handed behavior, but at the end of the book I like him a little more and have to say he has his moments even if he is mostly an ass. Mia one the other hand was amazing and I love her back bone, yay! You go girl, finally putting your foot down and telling him where the closet is.

I loved the plot in this book and I can hardly wait to get my hands on the next book in this series, I think we have to send the author some energy pills so she gets it finished super-fast. I am going to grab a copy of it hot out of the press, burning my fingers hot, lining up in the waiting line right now.

If you haven’t already guess it, I loved this book and I give it 5 stars.

How far would you go to regain your freedom? How much would you sacrifice to help your people? What choice will you make when you begin to fall for your enemy?

WARNING: This book contains strong sexual content and explicit language and is not suitable for readers under 18.

My thoughts:

I want to divide this book into two parts, the first 50% of the book where I struggled and the last 50% that I really liked.

I really struggled with the first half of this book, I felt like I re-read fifty shades of grey just with aliens in it. That would probably be a good thing if you like the fifty shades of grey books I really don’t. I think they are the worst books I ever read. This book however is much, much better written, the author can actually write and writes well. That is a huge difference and makes this so much better. I also had a problem with the food thing, no animal products. «Your unhealthy addiction to animal products.” Quote from the book. Really?!? What`s up with that? A world filled with people low in vitamin B12, no wonder the main character was clumsy. You sure get clumsy if you are low on vitamin B12. The aliens probably educated the population on how to avoid it, or I am choosing to hope they did.lol I did love all the wonderful food descriptions though, it made me hungry.

I also had a hard time with the first sex scene, I wanted to hit Korum over the head with a frying pan many, many times. I just don’t like him one little bit, I hope there is some greater depth down in there if not he is just an inconsiderate, narcissistic ass.
When I almost gave up the book it did a total turn around and went from this to something I could almost not put down.

The last 50% of the book I really liked, actually I loved it, it sucked me right in and I found myself up in the middle of the night not able to put the book down. The story moved along in a fast pace and the main character found her back bone and did her own thing behind Korum`s back. So not a dumb mindless female anymore, but a girl that understands where she is at and does what she can to struggle against her situation. I loved that she joined the resistance and spied on him. I really don’t like Korum I hope his character evolves in future books, right now I think he is just an abusive, controlling, asshole. But I tend to have a huge problem with characters this dominant and controlling.

I absolutely love the world the author has made here, it is well build up and very well written. I love all the alien gadgets she is telling about I feel like I am watching a new episode of Star Trek filled with wonderful new super toys. I love Star Trek so that is a very good thing. I just need to read the next book because I have a feeling there will be many, many more of them there. So talk about a change in the middle of the book, I did not think I wanted to read the next book, but now I have to say I really do. I cannot give this book a full pot since I struggled with the first half of it that was a 1-2 stars for me and the last half was a 5 stars so I am going to meet in the middle and give it 3 stars. I hope the next book in the series is like the last half of this book as that would be a full score book for me.

My Thoughts:

Sofia Grey never disappoints, she is one of my favorite authors and I usually love her books. I did love this one too, I just thought the book would be about race drivers, cars and that life. Instead it was mostly about horses, I don’t do horses at all. I am no and have never been a horse girl so I find hoses utterly boring. I would have liked a “horses warning here”. Not she works in a book shop she is never in.

That said the book itself has a wonderful flow in it, I love the chemistry between the ppl in it. The hero Jon I looooove he is just the best hero there is. Just after my heart. I absolutely adored the story told from his side.

Anita is a bit more naive and that shines through in the lines when she is telling her story.

While I was reading this it all sounded strangely familiar with the names and people in it. The I remembered I had read about them briefly before in the Talisman series, so it was super cool when I got that reference and made the story so much more fun for me.

Overall I loved the book, my notes are I would have liked more racecars and less horses.

The hotness and erotica part of this book was A+++++ for sure.

I give 4 stars.

Before long, Patience wonders if there is more to the sexy bartender than mixed cocktails and insane first-aid skills. Something strange is happening at Helios and Apollo doesn’t want to talk about it.

Can Patience open herself up to this enigmatic man, even though she is terrified to be vulnerable again? And can Apollo recover from an eternity of hurt and learn to trust once more? They must both decide before Death comes calling.

It felt real original with this modern twist to the Greek myths I bought it and loved it, just picture Artemis in skinny jeans. The story is wonderfully written and so upbeat that you just get in a good mood reading it and you feel the sunshine on your body. You could almost get this on prescription as treatment for winter depression.

The romance builds up nicely and it is hot and steaming not to forget the shower scenes, hot, hot.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a charming romance or PNR filled with sunshine and fun dialog. I love this cute love story and I give it 5 stars.

Synopsis:

Stalked by her abusive ex-fiancé, Rae Zachery retaliates by singing karaoke and spilling all their dirty secrets to the entire bar. When her ex attempts to silence her brazen performance, sexy, leather-clad Parker comes to her rescue and soundly punches her ex in the face. As valiant as that may be, Rae finds Parker’s violent assistance unsettling, yet she can’t help but be drawn to him and his tragic past.

Fighting her attraction for Parker is a battle Rae can’t win, and soon their night of sharing secrets morphs into an undeniable bond. But fate won’t so easily relinquish her grip on their happily-ever-after. Instead of blissfully skipping into obscurity, Rae and Parker are subjected to her ex-fiancé’s vicious proclivities. Who knew love could hurt so good?

My Thoughts:

This book was nothing like I expected when I picked it up, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

First of the cover is pretty but to me it screams Paranormal Young Adult, it does not represent the story at all. I would say change the cover on this it is to YA and the story is too good to be left out because of it.

This is also put in the New Adult genera that are so popular at the moment. I am not sure this fit in that genera, the people in it are that age girl 20 and boy a bit older. But they don’t really act like it, they act much older witch is normal after the experiences they have had so far. The only new adult feeling I had in this book was the first chapter. After that that feeling totally disappeared, and I am super happy that it did. This is not a teenage angsty book, but a book that is real, scary and has really seriously and awful problems.

Rae is a 20 year old girl trying hard to get her life back together after being in a 7 year long relationship with an abusive boy. She has real problems and the creep is still trying the get her back. Rea is a strong woman with a great back bone and she is pretty much done with being abused and used as a doormat. She meets Parker at a bar where she sings about her past relationship to get closure. They get instantly attracted to each other, And her the “fun” really start, as this really rubs her crazy X Ian the wrong way. I have to say I love Rea she has spunk and the best sarcasm ever, loved it.

The story is a scary story about abuse and the way to build your life back together with sweet love to help you along. This book should be on a list with need to read this so you know what guys to stay far away from.

I loved the writing style and could hardly put it down, reading in the car, in the grocery store while hubby pick out the food, in bed and in my garden. I still have laundry in my washer that needs to be hung but I have been too busy reading about Rae, Parker and Ian.
This is the sign of a really good book.
So I give it 5 stars.

Young unhappy couple having problems in bed

Excerpt:

I seethed in silence. Anita glanced up, saw the look on my face, and struggled to sit upright. “What’s wrong?” She asked.

I didn’t answer. I looked away as I tried to get my anger under control.

“It’s something to do with Danny, isn’t it?”

I wasn’t sure what to say. How about, I’d like to throttle your friend? No, perhaps not.

Anita tugged on my arm, and I turned back to face her. She had two spots of color in her cheeks. I’d not seen her annoyed before.

“You still have a problem with him don’t you? What is it with you?”

She galvanized me into being honest. “I don’t trust him, and I don’t like you spending so much time with him.” As soon as I’d said it, I could have kicked myself. It sounded sulky, and childish. And it infuriated her.

“He’s my best friend. Of course I spend time with him. And how can you not trust him?” Her voice rose in pitch. “What has he done to you?”

I was astonished she could have forgotten. “Well let me see. He hung up on me several times when I phoned for you. He’s warned me to keep away from you. He’s told me to fuck off in no uncertain terms. Then he picked a fight with me. You might recall it?”

“But he apologized. Shook your hand. He told me it was all a misunderstanding.”

“Yeah, right.” I couldn’t hide my contempt.

She jerked away and stood up, shivering, before wrapping her arms over her chest. “You’re jealous.”

There. The accusation was out in the open. It lay between us, challenging me to respond.

“I trust my instincts, Anita, and they tell me to keep the hell away from him.”

She stood there completely silent, staring at me with huge eyes. I sat sullenly. I could see she was close to tears, and I suddenly regretted my words. I held out a hand to her and tried a smile, but she ignored it.

“I’ve known Danny all my life.” She spoke slowly, as though she was working out what to say. “I’ve known you for less than a month. Are you asking me to choose between you?”

I just looked at her.

“You are. Jesus Christ.” She swung away, and walked to the doorway, her arms still wrapped across her body. The rain continued to hammer down; the thunder more distant now. She stood in the doorway, silhouetted against the lighter outside. It was ages before she turned back to me.

“Danny’s always had my back. Always. He rescued me when I quit at Uni. Danny encouraged me to train as an instructor. He spent months looking at horses for me, before finding Sam. He gave me a home. Rebuilt my life.”

Her voice was low. I struggled to hear her.

“Don’t make me choose, Jon.”

Author bio:

Romance author Sofia Grey spends her days managing projects in the corporate world and her nights hanging out with wolf shifters and alpha males. She devours pretty much anything in the fiction line, but she prefers her romances to be hot, and her heroes to have hidden depths. When writing, she enjoys peeling back the layers to expose her characters’ flaws and always makes them work hard for their happy endings.

My Review: ( Spoilers alert be warned.)

In this book we meet Acelynn that made a deal with the devil to save her sisters soul. She has wandered the earth for 80 years looking for Satan’s son so she can kill him. Acelynn is a troubled soul that carries a lot of “scars” and gilt from a rough upbringing and a drunken dad. Acelynn is smart, as learned many languages and tries to enjoy life best she can.

I really liked the basic story here, the first half of the book was really awesome and very well written. You got into the book fast and I liked the character and the world it was set in, you were eased into this world in a very nice way. It is set on a biblical theme with Satan, angles, demons and then spiced up with vamps, unicorns, shifters and such.

Overall I liked this book, but I did have some things I was not so happy with. When she meets the man she falls in love with and they get in bed the first time we get nothing. The author has built up to it and she just stops short and pick up the next day, WTF?!?… When Acelynn was in bed with a random guy earlier in the book it was much more described, also that she had to be on top because she has so “scars” from before. And here with the love of her life we get absolutely nothing. I was sooo not happy about this, I felt cheated in a big, big way.

Also this book is labeled Paranormal Romance in big letter, in a pnr I expect sex. I expect to read about the first time the H/h get in bed with each other and every other time they do too. This is not a PNR to me, I would say more in the Urban Fantasy genera with no sex and also overall the way it is written.

I also was not a big fan of the end here, but that can be fixed in the next book I hope. Other than that it was over all a very good read, solidly written with a good plot. I give it 3,5 stars.
